Write 25 page essay on the topic Pain Management and Cancer Patients.

Pain has been defined as “An unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage” by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP Pain Terminology, 1994). It is a subjective experience while it is also a complex perception produced by the brain and the nervous system which basically signals the occurrence of actual or potential tissue damage. The term “nociception” is generally used to refer to the perception of pain. Pain has physical as well as emotional consequences, and, at its worst, the potential to curtail productivity, and the sense of well-being. The presence of uncontrolled pain in cancer patients can often serve as a constant reminder of their dreaded disease that induces them to brood over their anticipated death.

About 25% to 30% of patients with recently diagnosed and metastatic cancers are affected by pain (Cleeland et al., 1994) whereas in advanced stages of cancer the number could be as high as 80% (Abrahm, 1998. Wootton, 2004. McNicol et al., 2004. Mercadante and Fulfaro, 2005). A vast majority (90%) of patients with metastasis to osseous structures report pain (Haegerstam, 2001). The causes of cancer pain could be due to cancer itself or its treatment, or other causes. The presence of tumour could result in neuropathic pain due to direct compression of nerves or plexus or spinal cord. Neuropathic pain can also be caused by chemotherapy with drugs such as vinca alkaloids or radiation therapy (Pharo and Zhou, 2005). It becomes imperative, therefore, to understand the various forms and mechanisms of pain in order to adopt the most appropriate strategy for pain management. A treatment plan that is easy to administer, provides the greatest pain relief with few (or none) side effects is what is desirable.

Cancer pain can be classified as

Resume questions

A resume should have a maximum of two pages. This will ensure that the resume contains only the important information about the individual. A resume should contain the personal information of an individual, the work experience, the educational background, personal interests, and the referees to the person writing the resume. The main differences between a CV and resume are the fact that a CV is long whereas a resume is short. The resume is short because the intended reader does not dwell much on the document. Another difference is the fact that a CV covers the entire career of an individual while a resume covers the relevant work experiences. The other differences include the fact that a resume has no particular rule on the format and it is highly customizable to suite the requirements of the writer (Flimmer, 46).

A resume shows the qualities possessed by an individual that make him or her most suitable for a particular job. A person should try as much as possible not to be arrogant in a resume. If the person does not have the relevant work experience, a person should not shy away from applying for the job, this is because a chance may arise that will offer some on job training. The font on the resume should not be fancy and it should be the normal size. A person should not include any information that he or she is not sure about. the resume should be an indicator of whom a person really is and that will gauge the potential of the individual.

Middle East Job questions

A person can find a job in the Middle East by looking at company websites to be aware of any job vacancies that may be available. Some websites give a list of the companies that have vacancies and that will be helpful in a job search. Companies in the Middle East usually look for a person who is highly motivated, hardworking, qualified, and ready to work under the existing policies of the company. The differences that exist between working in the Middle East and the U.S. include the fact that the Middle East has a high concentration of companies that deal with petroleum products and the companies usually pay well. However, the living standards in the U.S are better as compared to those in the Middle East.

In any particular working environment, safety is of a prime importance. Safety in this case refers to safety of the employees, clients, company assets and company shareholders. The shareholders can be protected by maximizing of profits and hence the companies have to ensure wealth is created. The employees should be subjected to safe working conditions and the company assets should not be destroyed. In my own personal opinion, I would prefer working in the U.S as opposed to the Middle East. The reason behind my reasoning is the fact that the working environment in the U.s is more conducive and that is what will be the determining factor in my case.

Multinational Corporation Case Study

McDonalds: Over 100 Cultures Served

For decades McDonald’s has been the undisputed king of global food franchising. With more than 34,000 restaurants in over 118 countries and serves more than 69 million customers every day.

So how did McDonald’s become such a global powerhouse? It certainly didn’t get there through hamburgers alone. Since it first began expanding overseas, McDonald’s has been careful to include regional tastes on its menus along with the usual Big Mac and French fries. For instance, in Thailand patrons can order the Samurai Burger, a pork-patty sandwich marinated in teriyaki sauce and topped with mayonnaise and a pickle. If fish is more your taste, try the Ebi Filet-o shrimp sandwich from Japan.

McDonald’s is also careful to adapt its menus to local customs and culture. In Israel, all meat served in the chain’s restaurants is 100 percent kosher beef. The company also closes many of its restaurants on the Sabbath and religious holidays. McDonald’s pays respect to religious sentiments in India as well by not including any beef or pork on its menu. For more examples, go to and explore the various McDonald’s international franchises websites. Notice how the company blends the culture of each country into the restaurant’s image.

McDonald’s main global market concern as of late has been Asia. So far McDonald’s strategy seems to be working. In Shanghai the company’s Hamburger University attracts top-level college graduates to be trained for management positions. Only about eight out of every 1,000 applicants makes it into the program, an acceptance rate that is even lower than Harvard! McDonald’s is reaching out further in Asia where it opened its first store in Vietnam in 2014. The Vietnamese location in Ho Chi Minh City is the country’s very first drive-thru restaurant. Bringing McDonald’s to Vietnam is a dream come true for Henry Nguyen, founder of Good Day Hospitality, who has been wanting to introduce the brand to Vietnam for over a decade. Nguyen brought in 20 top McDonald’s employees from Australia to help aid in the opening while also sending prospective Vietnamese employees to Queensland to learn the ropes in a real-life restaurant setting. In the end, one can only hope that McDonald’s remains dedicated to quality as it continues adapting and expanding into the global market.
