Complete 2 page APA formatted essay: Not-For-Profit Decisions.

Impact of Decision Making on Non-Profit Organizations Goodwill Industries International Inc (College) Impact of Decision Making on Non-Profit Organizations Goodwill Industries International Inc Non-profit organizations do not share out their profit to shareholders but use it for attaining their common goal. Such organizations are usually controlled by board members who have no legal support to earn profit by selling their shares to others. To be more specific, a non-profit organization’s surplus profits are solely used for the maintenance and further expansion of the organization. This paper will analyze the functions of Goodwill Industries International Inc, with intent to identify the importance of decision making in non-profit organizations. Goodwill Industries is a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Edgar J. Helms in 1902. As reported in Hoovers.com, the organization aims at the welfare of lower class of the society by giving outstanding training on job, employment placement services, and training programs for disabled persons. The organization is highly concerned about the societal issues for it creates opportunities for the people having criminal background. Goodwill promises improved quality life of individuals, families, as well as of the entire communities by converting all difficulties to opportunities. For instance, with intent to create more job opportunities for unemployed people, in 2010 Goodwill launched the Donate Movement which proposed collecting and recycling unwanted and unusable household materials from various places. Goodwill has more than 2,500 donation places in United States and Canada. Goodwill seeks help and support from local communities and it currently operates with 165 local communities. ‘Goodwill’ thus came to be known as environmental pioneer as well as a social modernizer because of its reuse and repurposes practice. As per the report (goodwill.org, n.d.), in 2010, 74 million donors including repeated donors supported the organization. in turn, Goodwill served about 2.4 million people through employment and training programs Since Goodwill is a non-profit organization, it faces series of difficulties in its strategic management. The organization’s existence mainly depends on the number of potential and good-hearted donors. Therefore, the stability of the organization varies according to the donation raised from the society. As mentioned earlier, since the board members have no rights to earn extra profit by selling their shares, it is difficult to locate dedicated charitable workers. Goodwill has undertaken the task of educating senior people and people from criminal background, which seems to be a constraint to the sustainable growth of the organization. Corruption is one of the major problems that Goodwill industries Inc. is suffering from. The basic notion of every non-profit organization is to bring about positive changes both in individuals and society. Therefore, every strategic decision has its own vital effect on the organization’s management and future sustainability. While setting up the goal, the organization should have clear vision on what strategy would best work to achieve the goal and what do not. Decision making involves various steps, beginning from identifying a problem or opportunity. The other processes include developing alternatives, analyzing them, selecting the right one, and finally evaluating their effects. One of the right decisions Goodwill Industries International ever took was its locating potential donors and beneficiaries. References Goodwill Industries International Inc. (n.d.). Hoovers. Math 54: Project Fall 2017 Due Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in the Classroom This project will demonstrate that several student learning objectives have been met, including statistical calculations for a given data set consisting of samples and, for the given sample data, you will decide on and use an appropriate test to reach conclusions about a hypothesis made about a population parameter. You will be making inferences about the population proportion. In this project you will utilize some of the statistical concepts we studied in class to analyze some data. The project will make use of a calculator with built-in statistical functions. You will be given a set of data to analyze. Your data consists of poll results for a two-candidate election. Your data consists of 1’s and 0’s. A 1 represents a yes vote for candidate A in the sample. You should set up a hypothesis test to test the claim that candidate A will receive greater than 50% of the population vote (so p>0.50). Your sample size is 100. You should specify the null hypothesis and the alternate hypothesis. You should test the null hypothesis and compute the corresponding P-value using the traditional approach where you compute Z. The significance level is 0.05. Make sure your data meets any requirements necessary in order to use the normal approximation in computing Z. Your report should consist of the following:  A cover page where you include your name and assigned class number.  An Introduction where you state the task your report addresses.  An Analysis section where you show the hypothesis and formulas for the project and the results you obtain.  A Conclusions section where you state your conclusions.  An appendix where you include your raw data and detailed descriptions of the functions you used and how you used them including any parameters you had to input to the functions. You must use built-in statistical functions on your calculator for your analysis. No credit will be given for answers obtained via plugging into formulas. However, you should show all formulas that would be required if you could not use technology for this project. Note: This project is to be an individual effort. You are not to consult with other students or anyone else (except the professor) on any aspect of the project. You may ask your professor any questions you have. You should type your report (including equations) on single-sided white paper with a staple in the upper left-hand corner. Do not put your report in any kind of binder.

True or False. Justify for full credit.

(a) A is an event, and Ac is the complement of A, then P(A OR Ac ) = 0.

(b) If the variance of a data set is 0, then all the observations in this data set must be identical.

(c) If a 95% confidence interval for a population mean contains 1, then the 99% confidence interval for the same parameter must contain 1

(d) When plotted on the same graph, a distribution with a mean of 60 and a standard deviation of 5 will look more spread out than a distribution with a mean of 40 and standard deviation of 8.

(e) In a right-tailed test, the value of the test statistic is 2. The test statistic follows a distribution with the distribution curve shown below. If we know the shaded area is 0.03, then we have sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance.
