Discussion: Writing Goals and Objectives for Your Grant

A goal is a general statement of what you hope to accomplish with your grant. In grant writing, there are 2-5 goals. Goals are broad generalizations and are abstract, not measurable. Each goal is about the outcome or impacts your grant-funded health education program is going to accomplish. In your goals, you want to catch the eye of the grant reviewers. Your goals must loop back to your needs statement.

An objective is directly tied to the goal the grant seeker is trying to achieve through grant funding opportunities. Objectives are very targeted and include the outcome(s) that will help accomplish the goal the objective addresses. In grant writing, SMART objective writing application should always apply. SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-phased. There should be 2-5 objectives for each goal, and there should be enough objectives to accomplish the goal.

Below is an example goal and an objective for a goal.

Goal #1: Increase physical activity in children and their parents in Wilmington, Delaware through the “Walking for Life” health education program.

Objective 1A: At the end of the first six months of the “Walking for Life” health education program, 100 parents and their children will increase their daily physical activity to walking at least one mile.For this week’s discussion board, you will be sharing your health education program’s needs statement, two goals, and two objectives. Ensure all parts of the posting are aligned to guidelines and requirements contained in the RFP.

Post the following:

  • Your Needs Statement, Goals and Objectives.

Please use the following templates to develop your goals and objectives.

To develop a goal, use the template below and fill in the blanks and create a sentence:

__________________ (Increase or decrease)

__________________(what)

__________________ (in whom)

__________________ (where)

__________________.(in the name of your health education program).

To develop SMART objectives, use the template below and fill in the blanks and create a sentence:

By_____/_____/_____, WHEN—Time bound

_____________________________________________WHO/WHAT—-Specific

from _____________________ to __________________________.MEASURE with a number, rate, percentage of change, or baseline—Measurable

Be sure to support your analysis and conclusions with citations and references in APA format from the Learning Resources and your own research.

I don’t understand how the formula for the law of large numbers will look in this question. So far I have done this:

We can say that the probability of earning 1 euro is

P(X = 1);

 and the probability of losing 1 euro is equal to

P(X = -1);

We have probabilities for these two;

P(X = 1) = 19/37;

P(X = -1) = 18/37;

We can now compute the expected value of X, and since it’s a discrete variable we use the formula;

      (1)*19/37+(-1)*(18/37); = 1/37

We also know that the game is played 1000 times, 365 days a year, so

1000*365; = 365000 times.

We then use the law of large numbers, which has the formula;

Write 6 page essay on the topic Fluoridation and Toxicity Issues.

Fluoridation might actually result in the darkening of the teeth or dental fluorosis and may even affect the gums (The Debate over Adding Fluoride in Our Water, 2013). This will result in something like what American researchers called the Colorado Brown Stain, which was a result of excessive use of fluoride and which affected some children from 1909 to 1915. Moreover, the darkening of the teeth was not related to tooth decay (The Story of Fluoridation, 2011). In a study by Parnell et al. (2009), there have been 88 studies that revealed that fluorosis may be derived from drinking of water treated with fluoride.

Fluoride consumption in drinking water may also be associated with problems concerning the health of the skeletal system. The most common is bone fracture (Limeback, 2000). The most common of these bone fracture types is hip fracture (Diesendorf et al., 1997). Moreover, data from 29 studies prove that long-term consumption of drinking water with fluoride can result in bone fracture (Parnell et al., 2009). Indeed, even though these studies are mostly from the United States, it does not change the fact that the potential harmful effects of fluoride can happen to any group of people in the world as long as they are exposed to relatively large amounts of the chemical in water.

The third and perhaps most difficult concern, which I hope Dr. Nokes will bring up and clarify, is that an excess of fluoride in the human body is simply “detrimental to long-term dental and overall health” (The Debate over Adding Fluoride in Our Water, 2013). This is indeed very alarming because people are actually not familiar with the standard amount of fluoride that a human body must take in as well as the maximum levels of the chemical that the body can handle. Although the Environmental Protection Agency of the United States points out 4 mg/L as the standard maximum tolerable aount of fluoride that Americans can take in, the data may be
