A Brayton cycle is being used to generate power as part of a combined cycle power plant. It operates on air which enters at 7◦C and 100kPa. The turbine inlet temperature is 1100◦C while the exit is 500◦C.

Assume the compressor and turbine are operating in an isentropic manner. You must use constant specific heats across the turbine, compressor, and combustor. For the compressor use specific heats evaluated 400K. For the combustor and turbine use specific heats evaluated at 1000K.

A) What is the thermal efficiency of this cycle?

B) What would the efficiency be if you used the cold air standard assumption?
