Safety is a critical component of a learning environment. Educators familiarize themselves with legal and moral aspects of the classrooms so they can best prepare for routines and instructional lessons.
Allocate at least 3 hours in the field to support this field experience.
Return to the birth to Pre-K child care facility from your Topic 2 field experience. Interview the same classroom teacher to gain insights on the safety measures taken at the facility.
At a minimum, ask about the following:
Facility policies
Legal policies regarding safety
Safe use of technology
Class size and ratios
Emergency response training
Fire safety
Active supervision
Naps (SIDS)
Use any remaining field experience hours to assist the teacher in providing instruction and support to the class.
Write a 250-500 word reflection based on your experience at the child care facility. What were your initial thoughts and feelings related to maintaining a safe environment for young children? Did you notice anything unsafe or problematic? What did you learn about the legal and best practice safety features in the early child care facility?
This clinical field experience will inform this week’s assignment.
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.
Document the locations and hours you spend in the field on your Clinical Field Experience Verification Form.
Submit the Clinical Field Experience Verification Form to the LMS in the last topic. Directions for submitting can be found on the College of Education site in the Student Success Center.

The educational pendulum exists, and it has governed the field for decades. It creates the moving target that is nearly impossible to hit with our current practices. How do we as educators grasp this idea in order to offset it? The pendulum influences the morale of staff and students alike, so learners must find ways to manage the pendulum until the paradigm changes.
General Requirements:
Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:
Instructors will be using a grading rubric to grade the assignments. It is recommended that learners review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment in order to become familiar with the assignment criteria and expectations for successful completion of the assignment.
Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center.
This assignment requires that at least two additional scholarly research sources related to this topic, and at least one in-text citation from each source be included.
Write a paper of 1,500–1,750 words that addresses shifts in educational paradigm (the pendulum effect). In your paper, include the following:
A research-supported discussion of educational paradigms, specifically identifying the current educational paradigm.
A research-supported discussion of how the educational pendulum (shift in paradigms) influences education, including the role of the educational leader, teacher, and student.
A research-supported discussion of the importance of educational paradigms, including shifting paradigms.
For this assignment, you will be creating a rubric that you will use to evaluate your staff based on how they are incorporating play into their classroom and how they handle transitions. Before creating your rubric, it is suggested that you read the article, “How to Create Rubrics” to ensure that you understand how to develop an effective rubric. You can create your rubric using a table in a Word document or by using the rubric generator Rubi Star (Links to an external site.). Your rubric must contain the following:
Performance Level Titles (.5 points): Includes four performance levels titles (emerging, progressing, partial mastery, mastery, etc.) to describe each characteristic.
Characteristics (.5 points): Includes at least five characteristics (skills, knowledge, or behaviors) to be rated on the rubric. Three of these characteristics must be related to play (see Figure 3.1 of text for ideas), one must be related to transitions, and one must be related to disruptions.
Performance Level Descriptors (2 points): Creates a performance level descriptor for each characteristic.
In addition to creating your rubric, address the following:
1. Defend your decision to include the characteristics you did on your rubric. Support your defense with current research. (1 point)
2. Explain how using this rubric will encourage the 21st-century skill of collaboration. Support your explanation with scholarly or credible sources. (1 point)
3. Summarize how you would use this rubric to foster the knowledge and skills of your staff regarding play in the classroom, transitions, and disruptions. Support your summary with scholarly or credible sources. (1 point)
4. Explain how you might utilize this rubric to encourage self-reflection in your staff and ways in which self-reflection foster’s professional growth. Support your explanation with scholarly or credible sources. (1 point
