Unit IV Essay

Ethics in business relationships include both the external and internal relationships that develop around the organization. For this assignment, you will focus on the internal relationships that develop inside the organization. Studies have indicated the more positive the environment within the organization, the more productive the employees.

Research one or a combination of these job-related topics found within organizations: job discrimination; sexual harassment; bullying or unsafe working conditions.

1. Briefly describe the issue.

2. Analyze the impact on overall morale, relationships within the organization and ultimately overall productivity levels.

3. Research a minimum of one company that was caught up in this type of issue.

4. What best practices might a company implement to avoid negative behavior within their organization?

5. How would you rate the ethical practices of the company that you chose (excellent, fair or poor)? Explain.

Your response should include an introduction, thesis statement, and a clear discussion of the questions/topics above. It should be a minimum of two double-spaced pages. You are required to use at least two credible references

Part 1: Summative Assessment

Create a formal summative assessment to be used within the lesson that you began in Topic 1. Think about ways to assess a learning activity that aligns with your reading standard and learning objective.

Provide clear instructions for your students to complete this summative assessment. Include an answer key or rubric with your assessment.

Part 2: Rationale

In a 250-500 word rationale, describe the alignment between your informational text, reading informational standard, and your learning objective. Address the following questions for your rationale:

  • What knowledge and skills are you trying to measure?
  • Does your assessment effectively measure what you are looking for?
  • Why did you choose this type of assessment?
  • How is this assessment appropriate for the students in the “Class Profile”?

Submit your assessment, answer key or rubric, and rationale to your instructor for feedback.

GCU format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

What Would You Do?

Below are links to videos of lessons for each of the five levels of education. Please choose the topic that corresponds with the level of education you are interested in teaching, and select one video from that category. (I chose elementary)

     I.         View the video of the lesson you have chosen and respond to the following questions.

                      a.         Identify the instructional model(s) exhibited by the teacher during instruction and provide examples that validates this assumption. Refer to the “Evidence-Based Models of Teaching” document you used in Week Five Discussion One to refresh your memory of the four types of instructional models we learned and cite it as a source to support your response.  (APA citation is shown in the required resources section for this week).

                      b.          From your vantage point, determine the teacher’s ability to engage students throughout the lesson.  Were the students engaged, attentive, and having fun learning or were there areas that the teacher could have improved upon to make the lesson more engaging?

                      c.         Describe up to three things you liked about the lesson.

                      d.         Recommend one thing you would have done differently than the teacher in the video and why.  If you wouldn’t change anything, justify why you think the lesson should remain as it is.

II.         Compile the responses to the questions above in a way that it will be easy for you to transfer them to a PowerPoint presentation (for example….bullet points would work best).

III.         Create a PowerPoint with a slide for each of the questions above (see below for instructions on how to create each slide).

                      a.         Use the Lesson Analysis PowerPoint Template. provided to create a visual of your lesson analysis.

                      b.         You will use the 7×7 rule to create your presentation.  The 7×7 rule states that you use no more than seven bullet points per slide and no more than seven words per bullet point.   This way your visual presentation will only show the main points on each slide without overwhelming your viewers without too many words.  You still need to make your slides attractive by adding images and colors to make it attractive.

                      c.         MUST Add your voice to fill in the gaps between the main points on your slides. (young male voice) Limit your narration to five minutes or less. Use your narration to explain each of your answers.  More importantly, use it as an opportunity to share your passion about what you liked in the lesson and how you might modify the lesson to better engage students and make the learning experience fun.  (View this link for instructions on how insert voice narration into a PowerPoint…

                      d.         If you need help with creating an effective PowerPoint presentation, please review the How to Make a PowerPoint Presentation (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. document from the Ashford Writing Center.

*NOTE: We realize this is something that you may not have ever done before.  Relax… There is no right or wrong as long as you tap into the teacher within you.  The point of this exercise is for you to show yourself that you already have ingenuity and insight to create a powerful and engaging lesson…..  So show us the great ideas that are within you!*

Please feel free to ask any questions if needed!
