1) After analyzing the teaching video, describe 3 different strategies the teacher used to facilitate student learning.

2) Imagine you are teaching a lesson on a topic of your choice. Describe the lesson and articulate what types of teaching/learning strategies you would use to build long-term retention and to facilitate learning for the students in your own classroom?

3) Now consider the biblical approach to education to inform your thoughts on this topic. Consider a passage of Scripture and/or a fruit of the spirit to support your approach to implementing these teaching and learning strategies.

Watch the video and write at least 150 words in response to each question/prompt. Responses are to follow current APA format and include a title page and reference page. You must cite at least 1 source in current APA format. You may use the textbook and/or scholarly journal articles as sources. When citing the Bible, list the reference followed by the version of the Bible. For example, you would write (Psalm 78:72, King James Version) or (Isaiah 40:28-31, New International Version). Remember, you are not to list the Bible in your list of references according to the most recent edition of the APA Manual since the Bible is considered a classic work. A professional portfolio is a purposeful collection of work that exhibits efforts, progress, and achievement in multiple areas. It is an assortment of artifacts that represents a selection of what you believe is your best work along with a narrative to gain insight about the learning of the classroom students. This professional portfolio will help you prepare for an interview or a new job.

For this course, you will develop a digital professional portfolio that is a compilation of professional work, student samples, and a demonstration of your personal education philosophy.  The platform of this portfolio must be digital, but the site you use is up to you—find the platform that works best for you. The portfolio must be able to include personalized text, images, videos, audio, presentations, and links. Be sure to demonstrate professionalism in using pseudonyms in place of any student names. At the end of your program, you will submit the link to the digital portfolio to your instructor through the LMS, but you may want to share it with your cooperating teacher/mentor and GCU faculty supervisor prior to submitting it.

Throughout your course, you will be instructed to add assignments to specific areas in your portfolio. Your assignments throughout your program of study and in student teaching have been aligned to the InTASC standards. The InTASC standards are a detailed list of professional standards for the licensing of new teachers, describing what new teachers should know, how new teachers should perform, and the necessary dispositions for effective teaching. As such, your portfolio will be aligned to the InTASC standards to display your acquired professional knowledge.  

In Topic 14, you will submit a link to the digital portfolio to your instructor, but you may also want to share it with your Cooperating Teacher/Mentor and GCU Faculty Supervisor.

For this topic’s assignment, you are only required to create the shell of your digital portfolio with no additional content filled in. Submit to your instructor your digital portfolio link that contains the structure listed in the “Professional Teaching Portfolio Outline.”

Learning Theory Presentation and Discussion Instructions

Thread: By now, you have learned about learning theories such as behaviorism, social cognitive theory, constructivism, and information processing theory. From the Snowman text, you will select the learning theory that you most closely relate to, and create a presentation using your choice of three presentation options to highlight the major features of this theory. 

You are required to use your voice to narrate the presentation. Make sure to introduce your name as you begin the presentation.

Presentation Options: Select ONE:

a. Adobe Spark (at least 3-5 minutes in length)

b. PowerPoint  (at least 15 slides)

c. Microsoft Sway (at least 15 cards)

You will then share this presentation on the Learning Theory Presentation DB forum. Your presentation must address the following items: 

· Your name, course, semester, and year;

· Major components of the theory;

· Examples of how lessons and activities can be differentiated to incorporate the theory;

· How the theory impacts classroom management; and

· Citation of Snowman text and other scholarly resources (if applicable).

· The theory’s key contributor(s), a description of the theory, and how the theory can be integrated into classroom activities are included.

Note: The title of your thread must include the name of your chosen theory.
