The nature versus nurture debate

Q1:

The nature versus nurture debate is by far a reoccurring topic with scholars today. As with any controversial issue, proponents exist on both sides of this spectrum.

What are your thoughts?

Do you think individuals are driven by innate drives passed down from prior generations?

On the other hand, do you think man is simply a product of his environment?

Q2:

The consequences of drug abuse are very devastating to individuals and to society as a whole. This often causes one to think critically in regards to drug laws and policies. According to Wade, Tavris, and Garry (2014), some legalized drugs, such as coffee, alcohol, and tobacco, have just as many harmful side effects as those that have been deemed illegal.

What do you think?

Does legalizing certain drugs send the wrong messages to our youth?

For instance, should doctors prescribe marijuana if it can ease the pain of certain illnesses?

By doing such, is our society condoning drug usage?
