Compose a 3000 words assignment on screening procedure for retinopathy of prematurity. Needs to be plagiarism free! This study aimed at a critical analysis of literature on whether ROP screening is painful and distressing to the infant and the role of topical anaesthetics, oral sucrose and other methods like swaddling and nesting in reducing pain during the screening. The sources included journals and MEDLINE articles from 1989-2005. Only studies, which showed a clear outcome, were included. Those studies, which included very small sample size and indefinite outcomes, were excluded.

1. Pupillary dilatation with either Guttae cyclopentolate 0.5% or Guttae cyclopentolate 0.5% with guttae phenylephrine 2.5%. Weaker solutions such as cyclopentolate 0.2% in combination with phenylephrine 1.0% may also be used. All mydriatic eyedrops should be instilled at least 30 minutes prior to examination.

A mixture of tropicamide 0.5 % & phenylephrine 2.5 % may also be used, which is instilled 3 times at intervals of 10 minutes for 1 hour before the scheduled examination. Tropicamide has lesser side effects when compared to cyclopentolate, and thus, may be preferred (Azad V, Pal N, 2005.)

The use of an eyelid speculum and scleral indentor is not mandatory for routine screening. Applying a speculum is optional for experienced physicians (Azad V, Pal N, 2005). However, they are widely used and allows visualization of the most

peripheral regions of the retina, which is important in determining whether the nasal retina is fully vascularized (i.e. zone 2 or 3). Preferably, topical anaesthetic eye drops are instilled prior to inserting the eyelid speculum. But the choice of using a local anaesthetic is personal (Azad V, Pal N, 2005.)

The presence of a neonatologist is a must to handle any emergencies like bradycardia or a decrease in oxygen saturation. Care must be taken to make sure that the baby has not had a feed immediately before the exam since the baby might vomit or aspirate, especially if cyclopentolate is used as the mydriatic.

the United States.

Member of the family US department store buyers to the home office to discuss the potential market for West African arts in the United States. As a result of these discussions, the family has determined to start exporting art to the United States, aiming at substantial sales to a limited number of stores (20 or 25). They are considering a number of possibilities:

Have no representation in the United States. Sell only to US department store buyers who visit the or other countries in the region where Traditions has agents. In additions, sell to US buyers who order by phone, fax, mail or on the Internet.

Traditions visit the United States annually for three or four to travel throughout the country promoting and selling the art to department stores and accepting orders, which would be forwarded for approval to the Traditions home office. Traditions would have no warehouse, office or other fixed place of business in the United States. Art would be shipped from the home office directly to the customer.

Have a permanent sales office, but no warehouse, in the United States staffed with Traditions personnel. Art objects would be shipped from the home office directly to the customer.

Have Traditions set up no sales office in the United States, but retain under contract an independent sales agent that has a US office and employees who will organize marketing efforts and conduct sales campaigns in the United States.

Authorize an independent sales agent, in addition to the activities described in d, to solicit, negotiate and accept orders for art in the name and on behalf of Traditions.

shop on Fifth Avenue in New York what would maintain a modest inventory. The shop would sell directly to customers, fill orders by mail, fax or on the Internet received from in certain Central and South American

accept orders from customers in Asian countries that would be forwarded to and filled by shipment directly from the home office to the customers. All sales would be under commercial terms prescribed by the home office. However, employees in the New York would have the power to decide whether or not to accept and fill all orders.

Traditions would much prefer to operate under a, but business exigencies may dictate the use of one of the other methods. In each case consider whether it to analysis if the title to the art objects passes outside or within the United States. You have been retained primarily to offer US tax advice. The only income tax imposes in Traditions’ home country are on oil production and mining. The family has become quite accustomed to receiving its income without fiscal erosion and would like to keep it that way. Advise them.

How, if at all, would answers in Problem 1 be modified if traditions also hired craftsmen as employees to produce art objects the corporation at its Headquarters?

Barnacle Industries was awarded a patent over 15 years ago for a unique industrial strength cleaner that removes barnacles and other particles from the hulls of ships. Thanks to its monopoly position, Barnacle has earned more than $160 million over the past decade. Its customers—spanning the gamut from cruise lines to freighters—use the product because it reduces their fuel bills. The annual (inverse) demand function for Barnacle’s product is given by P = 380 -0.00009Q,and Barnacle’s cost function is given by C(Q) = 270Q. Thanks to subsidies stemming from an energy bill passed by Congress nearly two decades ago, Barnacle does not have any fixed costs: The federal government essentially pays for the plant and capital equipment required to make this energy-saving product. Absent this subsidy, Barnacle’s fixed costs would be about $9 million annually. Knowing that the company’s patent will soon expire, Marge, Barnacle’s manager, is concerned that entrants will qualify for the subsidy, enter the market, and produce a perfect substitute at an identical cost. With interest rates at 6 percent, Marge is considering a limit-pricing strategy.

What would Barnacle’s profits be if Marge pursues a limit-pricing strategy if the subsidy is in place? $ Instruction: Round all answers to the nearest penny (two decimal places).

What would Barnacle’s profits be if Marge convinces the government to eliminate the subsidy? $

What would be the profit of a new entrant if the subsidy is eliminated and Barnacle continues to produce the monopoly level of output?
