Throughout this course, you have seen that one of the plights of the working poor is their inability to achieve social mobility. A value that all Americans have is equal opportunity for success, but this value does not necessarily translate to ability or ease to climb the social ladder.

Using the module readings, Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research the reasons why the working poor are able or not able to realize the American Dream. Then, address the following questions:

  • Define the “American Dream,” and then apply the concepts from the previous modules to either support or refute the idea that individual merits can dictate success or failure.
  • Include the topics of race, gender, housing, job opportunities, and social services to decide whether the American Dream is a reality or a myth.
  • Use the articles, film, library resources, Internet sources, and your own personal experiences to support your arguments.

Write a 4–6-page paper in Word format, following current APA formatting. Include a separate page for your references.
