You are the King of Dahomey; the year is 1740 or so. Dahomey is actively engaged in the international slave trade, which enriches the royal coffers very well. But now you have received a strange new request: Your leading European contact wants to buy one of your Amazon warriors! Apparently, some customer back home in Europe has studied the Greek legends about Amazons and believes they are related to the Dahomean version. Is this request thinkable or not? The Dahomean Amazons are free women and… well. . . they are Dahomean, not foreigners like the slaves you normally sell.
