Analyze new technologies and virtual environments that foster innovative home care technologies to monitor and self-manage co-morbid chronic health conditions.

Self-management of chronic health conditions via healthcare technology has proven beneficial to both the patient and the healthcare provider. Hospitalizations are less frequent, quality of life is improved, and patients are empowered to make decisions regarding treatment of their chronic illness (Radhakrishnan, Xie, Berkley, & Kim, 2016).

Today, it is estimated that up to 35 % of adolescents in the United States have one or more chronic illnesses (Price, Khubchandani, McKinney, & Braun, 2013). Some of the most common chronic illnesses in children are:

  • Asthma
  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Sickle Cell Anemia
  • Cerebral Palsy

Design a teaching plan for a technological program or device that would assist in the self-management of one of the above mentioned chronic illnesses in children and teenagers. Additionally, you will identify an individual, community group, or health care system that would benefit from this information and distribute it to them. Some things to consider in this teaching plan are:

  1. How will this technology or device assist with medication management?
  2. How will this technology or device assist in early detection of symptom changes?
  3. How will this technology or device assist in education regarding disease management?
  4. Will younger clients be able to use this technology independently or will assistance from parents or guardians be needed?
  5. Will this technology follow the child throughout the teenage years or will a change be needed as the client ages and develops?

MPA604 M7D1: Edward Snowden – Hero or Traitor? Part 1

Use Answer/ Question Method

Each part has to be at least 500 each

Many would argue that the ultimate expression of ethical autonomy is whistle-blowing. The stakes are even higher when the whistle-blowing involves disclosure of classified or highly sensitive information such as with Edward Snowden. In this discussion, you will debate whether Snowden is a hero or a traitor. You will also review the Qin article Hero on Twitter, Traitor on News: How Social Media and Legacy News Frame Snowden and discuss the social media implications involved with this example of public sector whistle-blowing.

Respond to the following:

  • Pick a side and debate whether you believe Snowden acted appropriately or inappropriately in blowing the whistle on the NSA.
  • Discuss your opinion on the role social media plays in whistle-blowing cases and how public organizations—government agencies or otherwise—should react to and/or use social media in the wake of a whistle-blowing incident.
  • M7D2: Social Media & Administrative Ethics Part 2

    Use Answer/ Question Method

Each part has to be at least 500 each

In December 2015, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) violated federal law, including anti-lobbying rules, by using social media to try to gain support for the agency having expanded regulatory authority under the Clean Water Act over ponds, ditches, and other waterways. The GAO found this use of taxpayer funds violated the law because the EPA sent government-sponsored messages without identifying them as coming from the agency, and by including in a blog post hyperlinks to other organizations that directly solicited readers to contact Congress in support of expanding the EPA’s enforcement authority.

Consider this use of social media by the EPA and watch the following video before responding to the following questions.

Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University. (2014, February 6). Social media and ethics: The challenges for government (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. [Video file] [5 min 45 sec]. Retrieved from https://youtu.be/pHZy5c15IPc

    Respond to the following:

  • Describe and analyze some of the pros and cons for public organizations using social media, including unique limitations involved with social media and government organizations.
  • Research a real-world scenario that illustrates how social media helped or hindered a public organization. Summarize what you found and discuss how you would have handled the situation differently (or why you would have done the same).

A company that has an international presence that i’m familiar with is Red Bull. This well known energy drink company has been around globally for around 25 years and has created a large brand utilized in many different avenues. The vast majority of the advertising done across the world is more through sponsorship and/or word of mouth than the many ways of advertising like television ads, etc. This large company has a huge following of people that love the drink and use it for basic energy increasing measures or they drink it with alcoholic beverages. This drink however has been looked at in a harmful way as well, as it has been associated with heart problems, diabetes, and other medical problems. This drink has also become an interest to young adults and children which has also possibly led to health complications. With that, this company has to face regulations on this product in many different ways across the world. Some countries may encourage the consumption while others may try to ban the import of the product to their country. Also, as a drink product this company has to go through hoops with the FDA over the safety of the ingredients used in the product.

Learning to identify fallacies leads to better critical thinking skills and guides you in making logical, reasoned decisions. For this discussion, you will need to watch television or listen to the radio. The best place to find fallacies is in the media, especially in advertising and in the news. Listen carefully to commercials or news broadcasts, and identify at least three of the top 10 fallacies described in your text. There should be little, if any, duplication of material among students given the vast number of media fallacies available. Your response should be 150 – 200 words in length. Respond to at least two of your fellow students’ postings.
