The topic that I would like to survey is what percentage of high school girls are on birth control. I think that this is really important to the healthcare field, because knowing what percentage of teenage girls are on birth control gives us a rough idea of how many teenage girls are sexually active. This can result in better nursing practice by knowing how to better understand and talk to teenage patients.

I will be testing a high school population of girls and surveying them about whether or not they are on birth control. This study is quantitative. The population of girls from a given high school will represent high school girls in the United States.

I will analyze the data by recording how many girls are on birth control in a given high school, and then comparing that to the amount of girls who are not, and this will give me a percentage of girls who are on birth control.

I expect to find that most girls that are in high school are on birth control. This may vary depending on the student’s honesty.

Potential data set:

Girls in a given (6a) high school: 500

Girls in the united states that are in high school: roughly 45,000

Collect, organize, and summarize the data

  • Provide the raw data organized in a table or chart. Describe your data set.
  • Discuss your sampling technique and how you collected the data.
  • If data is collected from the internet, provide the URL.
  • If a survey was used, provide a copy of the survey.
  • Construct a frequency distribution table for the variable of interest.
  • Graph the frequency distribution in a frequency histogram.
  • Interpret the results of the frequency histogram. What is the shape of the distribution?
  • If the data is qualitative (categorical data) display data in a bar graph and pie chart.
  • Interpret the results of the bar graph and pie chart.

One preference of management was to look into using a SEP as the companies retirement plan option for the next year. You have been asked to research this idea and present a report back to management that outlines the benefits of this strategy, to include downsides this option may have in comparison to the existing Traditional IRA option the company currently has.
