Your assignment is to prepare and submit a paper on path of light. Sur Path of Light Light travels in a straight line and is very distinctive in terms of the direction and the effectof different reflective surfaces on the path of light. There are different angles that light is subtended and depending on the surface the image formed as a result of reflected light differs accordingly. It is therefore important to study the path of light through different reflective surfaces and study how the image is superimposed and formed by the reflective surfaces (Keller et al 29). An experiment to study how the light travels and is reflected along different surfaces to form an image is therefore important so as to understand and conceptualize the path of light.

Depending on the surface and the position of the reflective surfaces images can be inverted and in other cases depending on the arrangement of the surfaces form many images. The structure and path that the light follows is therefore dependent on the surface and the origin of the light at the source. The reflective surfaces differ from curved surfaces to mirrors that reflect the light and form an inverted image (Keller et al 29). In addition, if the image is reflected across two mirrors there is formation of many similar images that are formed through reflection. Curved surfaces on the other hand form images depending on whether the surface is concave or convex with each surface forming its own unique form of image (Kokhanovsky 107). This is as a result of the path that the light takes once it hits the curved surface and the eventual image that is illustrated on a screen. Similarly there are images that are formed from shiny surfaces that are brighter and more reflective while the darker images form unique and distinct images depending on whether the surface can let any light pass through. The surface is therefore an important part in understanding the path of light since it forms different images depending on the surface.

There are different methods that can be used to make an experiment and establish the path of light and how the light travels from one source to another. One of the experiments uses cardboards that are placed in a straight line with holes on the same point. The cards are used to show that when one illuminates light at one end the light is seen at the other end when the cards are arranged in a straight line. However, if one of the cards is located on a different position or the hole on the cards are not in congruence then there is no image formed at the other end. The light does not move to the other cards since it does not travel in curves.

However, it is important to note that if there are reflective surfaces that are used in such an experiment and are located perfectly there is a chance that light can travel along corners (Riley 81). Although one can observe the light albeit not curved surfaces there is a need to position the reflective surfaces at very specific angles to ensure that they light reflected can be visible (Beerson and Mayer 109). Light travels on a straight line and therefore there is a need for the surfaces to be placed at right angles in order for the light to be reflected through the corners. The experiments are therefore important in coming up with equipment and items that are meant to be used in different areas such as the submarines.

Write a 2 pages paper on why the renaissance has been called the birth of modernity. Why the Renaissance has been called the birth of modernity?

Modernism is a style in European and American art of the late XIX – early XX centuries, which aroused as a reaction to historicism and eclecticism in art. He aimed to turn the existing since the times of the Renaissance tradition of the European art, and it has changed the world rapidly. Of course, there was a basis for these changes, which was prepared by the history preceding it. Some historians would say modernity started during the Enlightenment in the 1700’s or even in the early 1900’s, but personally I think that the basis for Modernity has been made during the Renaissance in 1500’s.

After brief examination of the modernism origins and backgrounds and its historical development factors, we may conclude that its mature features expressed the particular type of the Renaissance type of rationality. The sense underlying in its basis claimed to continue Renaissance traditions of transparency, naturalness and simplicity.

Renaissance was a powerful humanistic and cultural movement, which was featured with bright and cheerful expectations from the future. It was the time when people finally believed in own powers, so they had no insurmountable obstacles to the historical ascent to freedom, happiness and justice.

Thus, as the Renaissance, the Modernism got its reputation of being the age of rebirth of exploration and learning. In contrast to the eclecticism with its interest to the reliability of the playback of national and historic art individual parts Modernism tried to revive the spirit of stylistic unity of artistic organisms. It was inherent to medieval or folk art, as well as to the Renaissance art. Abandoning from attempts to “reanimate” outdated academic standards by copying the styles of the past, modernist artists came to the new principles by shaping styling features of various eras and styles art. Through the understanding of the new designs and materials and as well as through using the rich ornamentation of natural motifs, modern art brought not only ornamental beginning but also unprecedented rhythms, especially the mobility of nervous lines and shapes, and that incorporated all kinds of art of this period.

So, as you can see, the effects of the European Renaissance were felt during the Modernity, as well as it is prevalent in contemporary society, when the cyber revolution is well underway following Machiavelli’s tenet of acceptance any means for achievement of desired purpose.
